Discover Luana’s experience as a graduate

A Graduate Program may be your solution if you are unsure what job you want to pursue.

Can you introduce yourself in a few words?
My name is Luana Luyeye, and I am a graduate at Quintet in Luxembourg. After two years of preparation for the French Business Schools’ competitive exams, I joined SKEMA Business School. Then, between my two semesters of Master 1, I had the opportunity to take a gap year in Luxembourg to gain professional experience. After graduating with an MSc in Financial Markets and Investments, I joined Quintet's Graduate Program in September 2021.

What does a Graduate Program consist of?
A Graduate Program is for young graduates, usually Master’s level in continental Europe. The program often consists of multiple rotations, each lasting 6 to 12 months, allowing participants to discover several departments within a company. In addition to developing professional skills, Graduate Programs emphasise the training and personal development aspect. For example, participants often receive training and support to build their careers through mentoring.

Why did you choose to pursue your Graduate Program at Quintet Bank?During my gap year, I did an internship at Quintet, where I discovered the company's entrepreneurial mindset. I knew that at Quintet, I could take initiative and be listened to without my position being considered. Quintet also has a presence in six countries, allowing graduates to rotate in different countries should they want to. Finally, Quintet's Graduate Program is truly built as a career accelerator as they invest in graduates by providing access to exclusive training, certifications, and management highlight graduates as future leaders of the bank.

How were you integrated into the bank?
The Graduate Program begins with a three-days induction in London. During these days, we had a series of meetings with management, our buddies and our mentors.

Quintet Luxembourg also has leisure events and staff socials that have allowed me to meet colleagues in an informal settings.

What advantages do you find in developing your career in Luxembourg? The first advantage of Luxembourg is that the labour market is very dynamic. There are many varied opportunities, and recruiters are very open about qualifications and willing to give people a chance. Additionally, the multicultural population means that we work with people from all walks of life. Finally, Luxembourg is a small capital but is no less dynamic with an array of activities available. You can easily get around on foot or by public transport (free throughout the country) and reach bordering countries in 30 minutes.

What advice would you give to someone wishing to join a Graduate Program?
A Graduate Program may be your solution if you are unsure what job you want to pursue. If you are considering this option, I recommend looking at the program's characteristics. Several elements vary depending on the company, such as the program duration, the number of rotations, and whether it is a thematic program. I also advise you not to neglect your soft skills. For example, it is necessary to learn about the company's values because, in an interview, you will most likely have to demonstrate them as a potential future leader. Finally, adopting a growth mindset is essential. Demonstrate your desire to learn, to grow with the company and to contribute significantly to the organisation's project.
