Purpose of the Job

We are looking to hire a mid to senior level banking and financial services lawyer with previous experience of products and services relevant to the private banking / wealth management business. This is an excellent opportunity to join a team of legal specialists within the group legal function exclusively dedicated to products, services and other various projects across all departments within Quintet Group, including Investment & Client Solutions, FIM services, and Assets Servicing. 

You would be specifically dedicated to ICS (Investment and Client Solutions) department which is in charge of the entire range of wealth management products and investments services for the Group. It geographically covers all our locations. Its scope is very broad as the products and services include capital market products, alternative investment products, structured products, their distribution and all solutions offered to clients, including discretionary portfolio management, investment advisory, lending and wealth planning. As a member of the Products and Services Legal team you will enrich your professional experience in the heart of the development of Quintet's products and services in an international environment. You will report to and work closely with the Head of Legal GPS. You will be based in Luxembourg.

Key Accountabilities

 

  • Manage the legal aspects of projects relating to new or existing products and services across the group, in close collaboration with the business units and the compliance department.
  • Proactively engage with the business and stakeholders to demonstrate value add of having a lawyer involved early with key matters and projects relating to new or existing products and services
  • Provide excellent quality legal advice on a broad range of topics, within the products and services specialist team to enable Quintet to identify, manage and report legal risk.
  • Manage own workload in close collaboration with the Head of Legal GPS.
  • Collaborate with local legal teams in Belgium, Germany, Netherland, and UK.

Knowledge and Experience

 

  • You will be a qualified mid to senior level lawyer with in-house experience in financial services, relevant private banking products and services and you are able to manage multi-entity projects.
  • Experience in: discretionary portfolio management and investment advisory agreements, capital markets products (including derivatives, financing instruments and structured products), private equity funds, alternative products, life insurance.
  • In-depth knowledge of MiFID and PRIIPS

  • Work independently, transparently and proactively with stakeholders and line managers.
  • Able to take on a wide range of responsibilities, handle a variety of cases simultaneously and meet conflicting deadlines and priorities.
  • You are accustomed to working independently, on your own initiative, to manage the workload, and to being part of a small specialist legal team based in Europe with colleagues in Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, and the UK.
  • Ability to advise the business from a group perspective, working with colleagues in the local legal function to gain their local validation. 
  • You are able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, and are comfortable presenting easily understandable solutions to stakeholders. 
     

Technical Skills

 

  • Qualified lawyer with at least 5 years’ relevant experience working in an in-house team in private banking / wealth management / financial services sector
     

Languages Skills

 

  • Fluent in English (business level) ; knowledge of French is an asset
