Purpose of the Job

You will report to the Head of the Cross-Border L&C Competence Center and have split responsibilities into Group Legal and Group Compliance. The role is envisaged to be the most senior role in the team. To this end, you will develop familiarity with and keep abreast of all tasks and responsibilities of the team. Your judgment, skills and experience will have an impact on the compliant growth of the businesses and you will assist in the implementation and maintenance of the Group cross-border framework undertaking a range of activities in this regard.

Key Accountabilities

•    Engaging with key business stakeholders to identify and manage cross-border risks relating to the commercial strategy of the group across the various lines of business and the implementation of the group’s cross-border compliance framework
•    Advising internal stakeholders on strategic decisions in relation to the group’s commercial strategy 
•    Assisting in the maintenance of the cross-border legal framework of the Group and its embedment 
•    Supporting the team head with sourcing external cross-border legal advice as necessary
•    Taking the lead on country-specific guidance and training material on cross-border relationships with clients in assigned jurisdictions in one or more regions of the world  across various affiliates and business lines of the bank
•    Creating and delivering cross-border training as necessary (ad hoc, classroom, and otherwise in addition to web-based training)
•    Collaborating with other Cross-Border L&C team members for seamless and effective coverage across various booking centers of the group; mentoring and training more junior members of the team; deputizing the team head as necessary on projects and during absences
•    Assisting with responses to regulatory queries; supporting audit requests related to cross-border
•    Performing at senior level, with full ability to represent the team at internal fora and on processes, as per delegation by the team head or as otherwise appropriate
•    Contributing to the work of Group Compliance and Group Legal as a cross-border subject matter expert in any other ways reasonably expected, including participating in projects and working groups and assisting with other priorities in the departments or group as a whole
 

Knowledge and Experience

A legal degree, preferably in a common law jurisdiction, and admission to the bar / qualified solicitor as applicable

Specialist cross-border compliance and financial services regulatory knowledge

Over 5 years of professional experience working within public accounting or financial, legal, or consultancy services

Familiarity with asset holding structures (trusts, foundations, funds etc.)

Proactive approach, taking ownership of topics and projects

Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills

Ability to work independently but collaboratively with colleagues across functions and booking centers

Flexibility and adaptability to a changing environment, ability to work under time pressure and meet deadlines

Technical Skills

Advanced level of MS Office Suite skills 

Languages Skills

Business fluent in English. Other languages a plus.
