Purpose of the Job

The successful candidate will work as part of the 2nd Line of Defence in the Group Operational Risk Control function. In his/her role, he/she will contribute to the successful development of the Quintet Group Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework focusing on non-financial risks - under the steering of the Head of Group Operational Risk Control.

Key Accountabilities

-Drive Enterprise-wide Risk Management Framework (ERMF) for Non-Financial Risks (NFR) by drafting the framework for each NFR taxonomy, obtaining sponsorship of 1&2nd line owners and coordinating / advising Group-wide implementation of the frameworks.
-Drive the Enterprise Wide Risk Control agenda for non-financial risks through ongoing training and sharing best practice across the firm to foster an environment to encourage swift risk issue escalations;
-Show strong analytical and problem-solving skills supported by relevant banking background to:
-Monitor/challenge the reporting of operational incidents by the 1st Line of Defence: timely escalation, accurate analysis, proper mitigating action plan
-Review/challenge the proper execution of Risk Control Self-Assessment analysis by the 1st Line of Defence: comprehensive identification of inherent risks, description of key controls (including their effectiveness), assessment of residual risks, proposal of action plans or risk acceptance statements
-Monitor key controls performed by the 1st Line of Defence: establishment of a list of key controls, review both their design (efficiency) and execution (effectiveness)
-Update continuously the Enterprise Risk Inventory to provide Senior Management with an accurate and concise overview of the non-financial risk levels
-Conduct risk reviews and support the firm with risk advisory services for business growth and expansion or new / change process build out.
-Monitor new emerging risks – e.g. new regulations, new market trends/risks, new projects/products/services launched by Quintet – and challenging of the analysis realised by the 1st Line of Defence
-Interact with a large spectrum of stakeholders inside the company:
-Collaborate with his/her colleagues – i.e. the Group ORC team located in the 7 countries where Quintet is present, having responsibility/leadership on Group topics depending on his/her proven expertise
-Colleagues in the 1st Line of Defence: supporting/challenging line managers, informing heads of functions
-Colleagues in the other 2nd Line of Defence functions (e.g. Compliance): insuring a fruitful and efficient collaboration (i.e. spontaneous sharing of information, avoidance of grey zone or overlap)
-Colleagues in Internal Audit: understanding/challenging their findings, timely delivering action plans
-Interact with external stakeholders such as:
-Regulators: answering their requests, timely delivering action plans
-Other banks: e.g. benchmarking response to emerging risks
-Promote the role of the 2nd Line of Defence in raising ownership, awareness and risk culture in the 1st Line of Defence by offering the right balance of support and challenge.
-Promote risk culture by ensuring a series of Group risk culture initiatives at all levels of the Group and cascading the same to entities. Initiatives include – risk culture awareness themed information sharing weeks, roadshows, trainings, awareness sessions et al.
-Operational Risk Training and development. Focal point for compiling training packs for Group-wide roll out with the aim of promoting risk culture as well as deepening knowledge of NFRs.
-Ensure ERMF is adequately captured in the Bank’s ICAAP by liaising with appropriate functions within Group Risk
-Act as focal point for emerging risk assessment and linkage to Bank’s strategy.
-Contribute towards enriching and enhancing existing frameworks including controls testing, incident management as necessary. Train and coach existing or new virtual ORC team members as necessary by involving them in on-the-job training or support staff for interim periods.
-Ad hoc support as requested by Group Head of ORC on related matters.

Knowledge and Experience

Experienced candidate with extensive, relevant experience in a similar function - i.e. business risk management, operational risk, compliance, internal audit – in a financial institution.

Attributes and Qualities

Strong analytical skills: i.e. able to challenge analysis made by the 1st Line of Defence.
Strong knowledge of banking activities: i.e. able to challenge the efficiency/effectiveness of processes and controls.
Ability to communicate effectively, influence and persuade at various levels
Effective leadership to drive change across organisation
Proven ability to deliver on large scale projects and bring people with him/her
Be able to evolve in a matrixed / changing and complex environment
Global understanding of private banking processes is a plus willing to learn about a pan Expanding private bank business
Work together, collaborate with all businesses and engage stakeholders to work with a common purpose

Technical Skills

Risk, Compliance, Good command of MS Office, MS Excel and PowerPoint

Languages Skills

Fluent in English is mandatory. French is an advantage for Luxembourg; other European languages are an advantage, including German.
