Purpose of the Job

Quintet Switzerland is building up a Business Risk Management (BRM) function a first line risk function.

The role of the head Business Risk Management in Switzerland is to ensure that there is a robust 1st line of controls framework in place locally. This is a key role to enable the front organisation manage their business risks appropriately. 

The role holder reports locally to the COO Switzerland, and functionally to the Group Head of BRM. 

Key Accountabilities

·    Lead the design and establishment of a strong first line of defence function, and coach other team members for Quintet Switzerland (team of 3 FTE)
·    Within the context of the Groups Enterprise-wide Risk Management framework, develop and maintain the first line controls framework and the implementation in Switzerland ensuring completeness, appropriateness and process efficiency. 
·    Create an atmosphere of continuous improvement, seek opportunities to automate and simplify BRM controls for the business and the BRM team
·    Build a trusted relationship with the Front Office to advise and support on 1stLOD duties, ensure good communication, effective root cause analysis and robust mitigation actions
·    Maintain Quintet Switzerland process inventory and support process owners in the design of business processes with adequate controls to mitigate operational and other risks
·    Maintain industry awareness, best practice insight and regulatory knowledge 
·    Drive the implementation of regulatory initiatives for Quintet Switzerland in collaboration with the Transformation Office and group functions
·    Lead the Risk Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) in Switzerland following group standards
·    Ensure risk incidents and risk issues are captured in the risk tools and escalated in a timely way
·    Conduct root cause analysis on new risk incidents and risk issues and recommend process improvements and develop preventive and corrective action plans
·    Report Key Risk Indicators, define and agree on improvement measures with business and 2ndLOD, and monitor progress  
·    Escalate significant issues and lessons learned to the local OpCom and Group BRM management
·    Ensure that action items steming from RCSA and audit are duly implemented and sustainable

Knowledge and Experience

Proven Business Risk and / or Compliance experience, in particular in a Controller function
Strong on execution and managing conflicting demands & priorities

Attributes and Qualities

Effective leadership to drive change across organisation
Strong track record to deliver on regulatory projects 
Ability to communicate effectively, influence and persuade at various levels
Be able to evolve in a matrixed / changing and complex environment
Global understanding of private banking processes is a strong advantage
Work together, collaborate with all businesses and engage stakeholders to work with a common purpose

Technical Skills

Risk, Compliance, 1st line Controls

Languages Skills

Fluent in German and English (written and verbal); other European languages an advantage but not mandatory
