Purpose of the Job

We are looking to hire a senior legal counsel, a general banking lawyer from in an in-house financial services team based in Switzerland, with previous experience of topics relevant to the private banking business, including international clients.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a newly established Quintet Switzerland legal team, which services Quintet Switzerland, a new Bank within the Quintet Group. 

The role, along with the Head of Legal for Quintet Switzerland, will provide legal advice to Quintet Switzerland. The role sits within the Group Legal Function and the role will collaborate closely with lawyers across the Group Legal Team on Group Legal projects. 

Key Accountabilities

•    provide good quality legal advice on a broad range of topics to enable Quintet Switzerland to identify, manage and report legal risk.
•    proactively engage with stakeholders to demonstrate value add of having a lawyer involved early with key matters concerning client management.
•    Manage own workload of general banking / wealth management work
•    Take responsibility for a number of legal topics
•    Input into a number of “transform the bank” topics from a legal perspective for Quintet Switzerland

Knowledge and Experience

Mid to senior level qualified Swiss lawyer with in-house financial services experience, on private banking topics, in Switzerland
Knowledge of private banking activities, products and pro-cesses
Knowledge of legal and regulatory risks applicable to a Bank  in Switzerland
Knowledge of cross border as a topic

Familiar with working independently on own initiative to manage workload and as part of a small Quintet Switzerland Legal team in Zurich

Be able to collaborate with colleagues from across the Group Legal Function on topics where advice from a Swiss legal  input is required

Be able to collaborate with colleagues from Cross Border legal and Global Products and Services Legal who provide specialist support to the Bank and the lawyers who work in Legal teams within subsidiaries of the Group

Capable of dealing with a variety of topics simultaneously with conflicting deadlines

Effective verbal and written communication skills, and comfortable presenting solutions with stakeholders which are easily understood 
 

Technical Skills

Swiss qualified lawyer with at least 5 years’ relevant experience working in an in-house team in private banking / wealth management sector

Languages Skills

Fluent in English and German (business level)
