Purpose of the Job

This is a FTC Maternity cover whereby the successful candidate will temporarily lead the Operations Function for Brown Shipley.

Key Accountabilities

This role is a Certified Role under the SMCR and is subject to the PRA/FCA Individual Conduct Rules

• Lead and develop Brown Shipley’s administration activities, working with group to ensure alignment, to meet the business strategic needs
• Manage the Operational teams’ day to day activities ensuring that all business criteria in terms of internal/external client service, quality, timescales and cost are met
• Ensure that all activities are carried out in accordance with company and industry best practice; are fully documented and maintained and are compliant with relevant internal standards and external regulations/legislation
• Monitor the CASS Governance Framework and all regulatory reports to ensure all regulatory requirements are met
• Oversight and monitoring of Key Outsourced relationships from an Operations perspective to ensure services are provided in line with KPIs and SLAs and that all due diligence requirements are met
• Provide regular management information and updates to all key stakeholders and attend relevant committees as required
• Monitor all Operational Risk issues to ensure that Risk is managed within Brown Shipley’s risk appetite
• Collaborate with internal and external reviews and audits to ensure positive outcomes and actions
• Lead the training and development of the team, ensuring that appraisals are carried out as required and that appropriate training and development plans are in place for each team member. Comply with all other HR requirements with regard to absence and disciplinary procedures

Practitioner Knowledge and Experience

Ideal candidate will have significant experience working in a Leadership capacity within the Operations sector of Financial Services
Has ideally managed a team of people covering multiple disciplines
Is well used to balancing and juggling an ever-changing list of priorities, plans a demanding workload and is clinical with time management
Has a working knowledge of payments, corporate actions, custody and UK taxation of assets
A thorough understanding of the general risks involved in Operations - understanding of the Risk and Control Self-assessment (RCSA)  process to help manage and mitigate risks
Experience in producing and presenting management information to key stakeholders in all formats
Experience of being a key liaison point to resolve issues and develop productive solutions
Good knowledge of the CASS rules and regulations, particularly with regard to how Brown Shipley operates under the Banking Exemption
Good understanding of MiFIR reporting requirements and Best Execution and Timeliness monitoring
Experience of developing and maintaining Operational policies and Governance Framework
Is a change agent and advocate – has experience of leading and project managing change by creating and delivering new ways of working to ensure our Operations function operates to the required standards
Ideally will have worked in a matrix management model working with other colleagues to ensure both local and group requirements are met

Knowledge and understanding of CASS regulations and all reporting requirements from an Operations perspective; oversight of outsourced relationships; development and production of MI.
