Purpose of the Job

An opportunity has arisen for a Financial Risk Analyst to join the Quintet journey and work within our newly refurbished Brown Shipley office, based in the City of London.


The role will include oversight of the bank’s Financial Risks, primarily associated with the lending/treasury activities and will involve the production & tracking of the firm’s Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), ensuring adherence to Risk Appetite.

The role holder will be responsibile for producing reports and collating information on a daily / periodic basis, recognise exceptions / anomalies that require further investigation &/or escalation, and to enforce relevant risk management policy throughout the firm.

Additionally, the position will involve oversight of the bank’s portfolio monitoring programme, ensuring that client investment portfolios are being managed in accordance with Policy / procedures.

Key Accountabilities

1. Preparing and evaluating periodic reports relating to Financial Risks undertaken by the bank in all its activities, including the production of risk reports for senior management & the Board.
2. Monitoring adherence to Risk Appetite / lending criteria, to identify risk “excesses”, ensuring they are properly investigated, escalated and tracking any remedial actions.
3. To undertake a series of controls that have been designed to mitigate the bank’s Financial Risks.
4. To enforce policy and accepted risk mitigation procedures throughout the bank, identifying and escalating exceptions.
5. To oversee the bank’s portfolio monitoring programme, to identify instances where client investment portfolios are not aligned to Policy (inc. performance dispersions). To track remedial actions and to produce MI for senior management / relevant risk forums.
6. To undertake regular risk assessments to evaluate the bank’s Financial Risks and to assist in the development of appropriate controls designed to mitigate the bank’s financial risks.
7. Carry out any other duties as may reasonably be required.

Knowledge and Experience

General knowledge of banking &/or investment management products and services.
Strong Excel skills (i.e. formula, macros & production of graphs).
To be able to write clear and structured reports.
Able to use Microsoft Outlook.
Familiar with computerised systems and experience with G2 would be advantageous
Able to work in a virtual environment and under own initiative with the ability to self-organise a multitude of tasks or targets to tight deadlines.
Private banking or FS experience.
General knowledge of risk management.

Numerate candidate (‘A’ level Maths / Economics or above).

Languages Skills

Fluent in English and any other European languages would be advantageous
