The successful candidate will work as part of the Group Compliance ‘Advisory Centre of Competence’ within Quintet’s Compliance Function and, in accordance with Quintet’s Matrix organisational structure, reports to the Group Compliance Head of ‘Advisory Centre of Competence’.
The principal duty of the role is providing regulatory advice to colleagues in the different functions in the areas of (list is non-exhaustive): investor protection, market abuse, responsible investment, sustainable finance and tax integrity.
The successful candidate also works closely with other compliance advisers from the six European markets in which Quintet operates, colleagues from Quintet’s first and third line of defence as well as colleagues from other Compliance teams, including Monitoring, Training and Development, Cross Border and Anti-Money Laundering.
The remit of the role covers the following areas, core to Private Banking, Financial Intermediaries Markets and Asset Servicing: Deposit-taking and payment services, lending, investment management and wealth planning.
Compliance Advisory Policies: Drafting and reviewing compliance Quintet policies owned by the Advisory Centre of Competence, to ensure they remain aligned to the latest regulatory requirements and best industry practice. Supporting other areas of Quintet Group in their policy drafting by providing them with the necessary regulatory expertise in those areas.
Ad-hoc enquiries: Supporting colleagues across Quintet Group in their daily interactions with clients or operations by answering to their day-to-day enquiries on the correct interpretation of those policies owned by the Group Advisory Centre of Competence.
Regulatory project work: Providing relevant stakeholders with regulatory advice as part of business projects, in the areas within the scope of the Group Compliance Advisory Centre of Competence (see examples above).
Regulatory Horizon Scanning: Providing compliance support to Quintet’s Regulatory Horizon Scanning Process, identifying those forthcoming regulatory initiatives that can have an impact on the areas under the scope of the Group Compliance Advisory Centre of Competence (see examples above), and supporting the business with their implementation of those.
Interactions with regulators: Assisting Quintet’s Chief Compliance Officer and the Head of Advisory Centre of Competence with ad-hoc interactions with regulators by informing key stakeholders, gathering the relevant information and assisting in drafting high-quality responses in a timely manner.
Compliance culture: Responsible for displaying Quintet cultural values at all times during his/her interactions with the business as well as other colleagues within Compliance. Fostering a positive culture of compliance by working proactively with other business function and compliance colleagues to ensure that best practices are followed in accordance with the applicable regulations, and internal policies.
Knowledge and Experience
Proven experience of at least 5-10 years in legal, compliance, regulatory or consulting work in the financial services industry, preferably in the Private Banking sector.

Analytical skills: Ability to quickly identify key regulatory risks, likely impact on certain areas of the business and design effective mitigation strategies.
Communication skills: Excellent English written and verbal communication, and presentation skills. Ability to adopt a tailored and effective communication style to make the right impact on different levels of management up to and including Executive Management.
Organisation skills: Able to prioritise and manage multiple work streams simultaneously.
Research & draft: Researching and drafting policies and position papers on highly technical issues for different audiences.
Business-minded: Ability to apply highly technical rules in a pragmatic and business-minded manner
Excellent knowledge of the regulatory environment applicable to private banking and wealth management is a core skill of this role.
Excellent written and verbal English. Advanced French, Dutch or German is an advantage.
