Purpose of the Job

Brown Shipley are seeking a Senior Investment Oversight Analyst to manage and develop the process for oversight across the UK discretionary portfolios covering both centrally managed and front managed assets. The successful candidate will work closely with the UK CIO and the UK Head of Investment Management to develop the first line of defence processes across discretionary portfolios.

Key Accountabilities

UK Portfolio Oversight Forum
- Chair the Portfolio Oversight Forum that oversees the adherence to policy for all discretionary portfolios
- Manage the agenda, and co-ordination of inputs and action points pre/post meeting
- Provide formal updates following the forum to the UK Investment Committee on progress/ key issues/ proposed actions
- Generation of reporting covering performance/ risk/ adherence to policy on a quarterly basis to Office Heads & the Business Risk Management Team

UK Investment Committee
- Attendee in the UK Investment Committee, and support to the CIO in managing the agenda over the year, and the development of policy in line with the evolving group framework
- Engagement with other risk focused departments around the Investment Committee (first and second line) to ensure issues are understood and plans/ solutions in place

Implementation of change
- Key stakeholder driving change in the business that results from actions and items discussed in the UK oversight forum and Investment Committee

First Line Flod
- Work with a variety of stakeholders in the UK (CIO, Head of IM, Head of BRM) and group function (Head of Investment Risk, IM Oversight specialists) to develop the first line of defence risk management processes
- Key subject matter expert in required UK & FCA requirements for first line risk processes through experience, regfular updating of knowelege, and development of relationships with key stakeholders in the first (BRM) and second line (compliance) internally
- Attendance at other UK Committees (Product Governance & Enterprise Risk) to support UK CIO on matters related to Investment Risk

Group Function Risk & Performance Monitoring
- Work with Group Head of Investment Risk in the delivery of relevant performance and risk reporting from a UK perspective
- Work with Group Head of Investment Risk to develop and enhance the framework for overseeing risk and governance across group discretionary portfolios
- Bring UK (& FCA) specific knowledge to the growing group risk and oversight function within the CIO function

Operational Risk
- Key stakeholder driving the RCSA process with other relevant departments (Operational risk) for the UK Investment department and working with other risk/ oversight colleagues in the Group Investment Management & Risk Function to implement and develop process.

Knowledge and Experience


At least 5 years relevant investment industry experience
Knowledge of Financial Markets and Investments
Capabilities in data analysis and quantitative focus
Excellent system (Microsoft) skills
Knowledge and experience in Private Client Wealth Management

Technical Skills

Intermediate Microsoft Office skills but advanced in Excel
